There’s always something that feels magical about castles. Perhaps it’s because they are a fixture in the story books that our parents used to read to us as kids. Or perhaps it’s because of the sense of history and power that they radiate. Either way, a city is always more beautiful and interesting if it has a castle. And Nykoping happens to have two. Nynas Castle, which is located along the coastal route is located some thirty kilometers north of the city. If you want to visit it, you can get a car hire in Nykoping Airport. However, make sure that you go there during the summer, since it’s only open to the public then. You can also go to the Orangerie where you can have a nice cup of coffee or buy some wonderful plants or flowers that you can take home. Another castle is the Nykopingshus Castle. This castle is very ancient. It was built way back in the 12th century. Inside, you can go to the King’s Tower where you can learn a lot of things about Nykoping’s history. Northwest of the castle, you’ll find a museum of art. It’s a great place to go to if you’re interested in different works of art.
