Orlando Airport

Orlando Airport

Orlando International Airport, Florida’s main airport, brings in 30 million visitors a year, many of which head for nearby Disney World, Daytona Beach and Cape Canaveral on arrival. The airport serves mainly domestic flights, though flights also come in from overseas. This well-equipped facility is located 12 miles south of Orlando and 20 miles west of Disney World.

Airport Facilities

Airport Facilities

A single terminal building consists of terminals A and B, which are both split into two sections. The airport is vast but people-movers help to keep things flowing. There are dozens of shops including duty-free and toy shops, as well as eateries and other facilities, including banks and ATMs.

Car Hire Orlando Airport

Car Rental

Orlando is the car rental capital of the world, with all of the main companies represented and at cheap prices. Booking is best done online to save money, and long waits. Alamo, Avis, Dollar, Enterprise, Budget, National and others all provide courtesy shuttles to their airport offices and there is a toll route from the airport straight to Disney World.

Driving

Driving

The city and its surroundings are large, and there is a vast road network. Most attractions are situated well away from the town, including Disney World, and fuel is very affordable. Roads are wide, and in good condition, though the main routes are tolled, so getting an E-Pass or a Sun Pass is recommended. The bustling International Drive gets very busy but is well worth driving through and stopping at some of the attractions.

Things To See and Do

What to See and Do

Walt Disney World is around half an hour drive west with car hire in Orlando, and is the area’s main attraction, with a vast complement of family activities, including the Epcot Center. The Kennedy Space Center is a little farther east, but within an hour’s drive, while Orlando is surrounded by lakes and nature parks. Avoid driving in downtown Orlando.
