Majorca

Majorca

Majorca is the most popular island destination in the Mediterranean, which is unsurprising given its fantastic weather, amazing beaches, pumping resorts, quiet coves and unrivalled hospitality. Additionally, the island has plenty of historic attractions in the capital, Palma de Mallorca, along with quaint hilltop villages that are best visited with car hire in Majorca.

Transport

Transport

Palma de Mallorca Airport is the gateway to Majorca, with flights landing here from around Europe. It’s just a few kilometres from Palma and the main beach resorts of Magaluf, Palma Nova and Arenal are an easy drive away. Getting around the actual resorts in Majorca is best done on foot, but it is best to have a car to jump between beaches, as buses here are infrequent and taxi’s can be costly.

Car Hire Majorca

Car Rental

Securing a car in Majorca is easy when you book online ahead of time. Compare car hire here with the likes of Avis, Europcar, Centauro, and Hasso for the best offers. Once you pick up your vehicle at the airport, you can check out Majorca’s main sights and beaches with ease.

Driving

Driving

Majorca’s roads are surprisingly good and there are some fantastic inland routes and coastal drives to be enjoyed. You don’t need a car to drive around the beach resorts or within Palma de Mallorca, though the capital has a useful bypass for getting out of the city quickly.

Things To See and Do

What to See and Do

Majorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and there is a lot to see away from the main resorts and city. Many people take in the mountain town of Valldemosa on the northwest coast, along with cool Alcudia bay in the north. You can get to the latter from Palma and nearby resorts direct via the highway, while the entire island can be covered on a loop in a day or two.

Best Time To Visit

Best Time to Visit

Tourists enjoy some of the best weather in Europe in Majorca. There’s not really a bad time to visit, but come in July and August if you like it hot (25ºC), dry and busy. May to June (late spring) and September (early autumn) are equally sunny but with quieter beaches. Even wintertime (December to February) is nice here, with daily averages of 14ºC.
