Avis Sees Strong Increase in Sales
Michael BondJust recently, Avis Europe reported a strong increase in overall rental income. In the four months that ended this past October, the UK-based group saw rentals increase by 4.5 percent. They went on to say that trading was very likely to continue to improve in line with their expectations.
The car rental firm went on to add that they are also seeing the benefit from “account wins” of the last 18 months coming through. This goes double for the UK. Consequently, billed days, which is their measure of volumes, have continued to improve month by month across most of the their markets.
Of course, this is good news for a company that was seeing pretty low revenue earlier this year. The company said that this had been done to rental length. No matter what caused the lower revenue, it is safe to say that the company must be really happy to see things turning around.
The company, as said before, noted that this improvement should last the rest of the year. Overall, despite the continuing fragility of the economic environment in Europe, the company’s expectations have not changed.
Some experts are saying that Avis may start changing some of their expectations, however, if this kind of increase keeps up. If they go to change it, they will be changing it to a higher expectation than what they first planned on. This is the kind of change that all companies want to see.
Overall, this is pretty good news for the travel industry. It shows that certain sections of the travel industry, like the car rental industry, are starting to turn around from the slump that they were in during the economic downturn.
