The large hotel group has reported that bookings with four legged friends have gone up by 150 per cent.

Best Western has won awards in the past for their pet friendliness, they offer special dog beds with a treat laid out on the pillow. A food menu will offer canines’ temptations like ‘leash and potato soup’ or ‘prawn dogtail’. The Monkbar in York even has walks specially designed to cater for the size of your dog.

“There’s been a huge uptake of rooms by dog owners and their pets in the past 12 months. In order to accommodate this increase we are investing in lots of new features to make sure our guests, and their four-legged best friends, are well catered for,” said Best Western spokesman, Chris Webb.

The hotel chain are just another that is seeing a gap in the market as more of us wanting to holiday with our best friends.

In the US a new airline is getting ready to launch which only allows pets to fly on their planes. Pet Airways will fly between five US cities and charge a single rate per flight. The planes are able to accommodate up to 50 average size cats or dogs with a flight attendant checking on them every 15 minutes. The animals will have their own departure lounge and owners can even track their movements online.
