British woman falls from balcony in Majorca
Simon BracknellDanielle Banks was in critical condition on Tuesday night after she fell from a balcony in the resort of Magaluf, Majorca earlier this month.
It is thought that Miss Banks was trying to climb up to her balcony after being separated from friends on the first night of their break although it has not been confirmed. However doctors say that from her injuries that it is more than likely the scenario.
She was rushed to hospital after being discovered on the hotel ground’s floor where she underwent emergency surgery. Banks has been heavily sedated since the operation but friend said she had opened her ideas for the first time the other day.
One friend who was supposed to travel with the group was Luke Richardson who said, “It happened in the early hours of Sunday morning. It was only 50 minutes after her friends lost her. The doctors said she must have fallen to receive those injuries, but no one really knows. It’s been difficult getting information from the Spanish Police. They have hardly told them anything at all. The main thing is she gets better then she can tell us what happened for herself.”
Her mother and stepfather flew out to Majorca upon hearing the news to be at the bedside. Locals from her hometown of Spennymoor in County Durham have already collected £1,000 in donations to help Danielle and her family out and are planning a fund raising event for 8th August.
