Car rental prices to stay steady in 2010
Simon BracknellEven though the number of car rentals has decreased this year, prices for hiring a car in 2010 look set to stay the same or even be increased. Usually when one year sees a slump in rental numbers the following year will welcome decreased prices but next year looks set to be different. If numbers of car rentals are down by October, many car rental companies will usually use this time of year to think of new ways to increase the amount of customers for the following year but it has been reported that some companies are even thinking about increasing their prices.
If rental and leasing prices do stay the same or indeed go up, many customers may stay with the company that they used in 2009 rather than try to look for a better deal somewhere else next year. Customers will have to hunt around for better deals and take a little longer with their bargain shopping as most car hire companies will not be offering great deals.
Going to the car hire company will likely to be more costly than using a third party website who will be privy to more deals than the general public. Many car rental companies used 2009 as a year to cut back on their fleet as travel and tourism suffered in the economic crisis. However, some companies were successful this year after many people chose to lease a car rather than buy in a bid to save money.
