If you mention the name, Ebay, you immediately come up with a vision of bidding online for something you have been wanting for a long time. There are some real bargains to be had on the world’s biggest online auction site and you can buy anything from a box of drawing pins through to cars and planes in some circumstances. The latest venture that is to come from the website is to auction of holidays in conjunction with Octopus Travel.

This is the first time Ebay have joined forces with a travel firm and there will be 50,000 holidays initially on offer. The auctions will be done the normal way with the website with prices starting at 99p for hotel breaks and great travel deals. There will also be the ‘but it now’ option for those that simply cannot wait for the auction to end.

The managing director at Octopus Travel, Gareth Gaston, said the whole team was delighted about such a special link up with the largest online auction firm. This partnership will help their product get to more consumers in the UK, who may not have originally been looking to buy a holiday. With more of us using the internet to search and book our holidays, this is another great option we can try when looking for a real bargain.

Ebay has just posted its profits for last year and they are streaking ahead making around £1.5 billion. This has been helped greatly with the introduction of other major retail firms being allowed to sell their products through the online website.
