Eurostar Resumes Brussels Service
Justin HarperIt seems that Eurostar has finally restarted its rail shuttle service between London and Brussels. However, the company did note that this service was going to be very limited. Apparently the goal right now is for three trains a day to run the route. However, since the train has to take a diversion around the crash site, the journey does take an extra 50 minutes. Anyone that does not want to wait this extra time is encouraged to find a different means of transportation.
The capacity on the route is likely to be expanded come this weekend. However, the route is going to continue to be diverted and put on a limited schedule, meaning that more people will be able to use the longer route, but it will still take nearly an hour longer. The train operator said that the new route is on suburban commuter lines and access is severely restricted. The train company is only able to operate three return trains rather than the usual nine services in each direction.
The direct train services will continue to be reinforced by the shuttle coach service between Lille and Brussels. Eurostar went on to add that full services between London and Brussels are not expected to resume until Tuesday March 2nd at the earliest.
The passengers that choose not to travel can exchange their tickets for a full refund or choose to move their tickets to a later date. Services to Lille have also been increased, but Eurostar did warn that there could still be some delays. Passengers traveling to Lille or Brussels have been told to check in as normal, and they will be accommodated on the most appropriate service.
