Hertz Expands Self Service Technology to Help Get Holidaymakers on the Road Quicker

Hertz, which is one of the world’s most well known car rental companies, has just recently announced this week its plans to accelerate its adoption of self service technology. They wall be doing this by rolling out Self Service Express touch kiosks from NCR Corporation at selected locations across nine countries in Europe.

The Self Service Express touch screen kiosk, which is very similar to an airline check in kiosk, is a reservation based system that collects a customer’s personal information and identifies the customer’s reservation. This allows a person to complete their car rental pick up process quickly and be on their way. The great news is that this service is not just going to be a “members” only thing. This is a service that will be given to all customers who have prepaid for their rental. On top of this, Hertz customers can also select and purchase upgrades, optional insurance, fuel options and other add-ons.

This new service offered for Hertz customers in Europe is another big step forward for the car rental company. Right now everything is about speed. How quickly and efficiently people can get in and get out. This new service allows for people to have a very smooth, and quick pick up process.

This big announcement comes at a time when Hertz has launched a free reservation application for the iPhone in 18 languages for customers in Europe as well. This well received Hertz iPhone application, which has already been very popular in the United States, allows people to make reservations, search and find nearby Hertz locations, save their favorite locations, and even receive special promotions right on their mobile devices. This application is available now for free download on Hertz’s website.
