Hertz to Start Offering Electric Cars in London
Steven PowellAccording to brand new reports, well-known car hire giant Hertz is going to start offering the battery-powered Mitsubishi i-MiEV to its UK fleet. This is a big move for the car rental company and offers even more choices for consumers in the UK.
To start off with, this is only going to benefit customers who are members of the Connect by Hertz car sharing club. These members are going to have access to two iMiEVs in London. However, Hertz does not plan on stopping there. In fact they hope to soon add more of these cars to their fleet so people across the whole country have access to them.
Hertz is always looking for new cars that it can add to its fleet to cut down on its CO2 output. The company said that the travel industry is evolving and people are changing the way that they travel. Many people are looking for greener options, and Hertz wants to be able to offer them that choice.
On top of this, Hertz wants to make sure that it’s easy for its consumers to recharge the battery of their car. This is why Hertz has already installed 16 charging stations all over London. Apparently the cars can charge about 80 percent of the battery in as little as 30 minutes.
Neil Cunningham, who is the Managing Director of Hertz in the UK, said that this company is already using these kinds of cars in the United States. They now want to roll out this idea to cities in Europe as well. They want to offer these cars in areas where there is a demand for electric cars.
