London’s Flight Options Goes Under

The well known London-based travel company Flight Options, which operates principally as Kiss Flights, has now ceased trading. The Civil Aviation Authority has had to step in to help protect holidaymakers.

Right now there are some 60,000 passengers who are likely to see their holiday plans disrupted now, following the collapse of this company. Most travelers know that this company handled a lot of trips to Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and the Canary Islands.

So far, up to 12,000 holidaymakers are presently abroad with Kiss Flights. All of these people will be able to complete their holidays under the terms of the Air Travel Operators’ Licensing scheme. Another 1,500 passengers were expected to fly yesterday with the final Kiss Flights departures.

A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority said that they have arranged for about 1,500 Kiss Flights booked travelers to get away on flights to the Mediterranean. The people who are due to fly can either seek compensation or go to travel agents to see if they can get an alternative flight.

Right now it is believed that Kiss Flights had been badly hit by the collapse of tour operator Goldtrail just last month. A statement from Flight Options said that the company suffered major setbacks due to very difficult and challenging conditions in the UK travel market this year. This resulted in poor yields and poor demand.

They went on to say that the poor yields were mainly contributed to over capacity in the marketplace. Poor demand was attributed to the volcanic ash, which not only closed the skies for just about seven days but affected people’s confidence for almost six weeks.
