Post Office Reveals that UK Money Could go Further in 2010 for Certain Areas
Steven PowellRecent research that was done by the Post Office reveals that Turkey, Mexico, Bulgaria and Spain have seen an increase in the number of UK visitors. This could be due to the fact that UK travelers are getting more for their money in certain areas. However, the Post Office Travel Service does warn that UK holidaymakers that money may go further in places like Spain and Bulgaria this year, but those traveling to Turkey may find that their money does not go as far as they would have liked.
The Post Office Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer has shown that some holiday hot spots such as Croatia and Indonesia have seen a rise in the cost of travel essentials. For example, travelers spending their foreign currency in Croatia will face a price hike of almost 17 percent for meals, drinks and other holiday items.
In the summer months of 2009, UK residents spent almost £11 million worth of foreign currency while abroad. With foreign currency forming such a large part the holiday budget, the Post Office Travel Service advises travelers to seek out the best deals for their money. This includes its own zero percent commission offer.
For holiday travelers that are looking for spots where their money will go further, the Post office has reported that Spain is the best place for UK travelers. Foreign currency will go further as it has seen a drop of 30 percent in cost for the same items surveyed a year ago. Other areas are offering more bang for money as well. It is important for all UK travelers to check into the cost of certain items before planning a trip. This will ensure that the traveler gets the best value for his or her money.
