According to reports, the Preferred Hotel Group has announced that it added 83 new properties between July and December of 2009. The company also went on to say that it predicts that this growth will continue into 2010.

The total number of hotels for the Preferred Hotel Group now stands at more than 700 independent hotels and resorts. These 700 hotels and resorts are currently spread out over 75 different countries.

On top of this, Preferred Hotel has also appointed a new global distribution system provider, Sabre Hospitality Solutions. Together they have launched Sterling Design, a new group within its Sterling Hotels brand of designed led hotels. These are hotels that are accessible to travelers who are seeking a smart value.

In America, Preferred Hotel has added 37 additional hotels. In India, the middle east and Africa, they have already added 12 new hotels. Preferred Hotels even said that it was able to expand its European portfolio by 19 hotels. If that was not enough, the company also claims to have expanded its Asia Pacific hotels by 14 properties.

The rate at which Preferred Hotels is expanding is mind blowing. This is mostly due to the fact that the hotel industry, as well as the rest of the travel industry, has been hit super hard by the ongoing recession. Although some areas of the world are finally starting to come out of recession, most of the world saw nothing but downturn during 2009.

The fact that Preferred Hotels predicts that it can keep this up in 2010 is also amazing, as many hotel are still going under. Just because the recession is coming to an end does not meant that hotels have returned to profitability just yet.
