Rental cars to enjoy Christmas travel boom

Michael Bond

The last holidays of the year are set to be a boomer for the hire car market as people start to book cars in their droves. The traditional high cost of travel during the winter break with flight, bus and train fares increasing puts many of us travelling and instead we miss out on the family get together or we end up paying a hugely inflated rate. Christmas 2009 looks to be saved though with many car rental firms actually lowering their prices over the festive season.

This year has seen us turn to hire cars that little bit more than usual with some families trading in their second family car to instead hire one when and as needed. Holidays in the summer saw a big rise in rental days being used as we chose to rent vehicles to either not to devalue our own cars or the simple fact that we needed something a little bigger for trip. The summer also saw a shortage of cars in European markets and many holidaymakers were left stranded when they tried to hire a car in the resort they were heading to.

Well hopefully the long summer is well behind us now and none of us will be left high and dry. Rental firms have already reported good turn-around in business to the latter part of 2009 and have high expectations for 2010. To end the year on a high and to build some valuable relations with the European market there are some great car rental deals out there, you just have to get searching.
