Sixt Announces its Electric Car Hire Scheme

It now seems that Sixt, a well known car hire company, has just recently announced the launch of an electric car hire scheme in London. The Fullham/Chelsea branch of the car hire firm will be the very first of the Sixt’s outlets to offer these zero emission cars for travelers. For travelers who are worried about their carbon footprint, these new cars are a perfect rental choice.

According to the announcement, Sixt will be introducing a range of EV’ie Citroen Models as part of their drive to lower carbon emission scheme for green minded travelers. The Ev’ei from Citroen boasts some very impressive green credentials, and this is the reasons why Sixt chose to use these model cars.

The Citroen Ev’ie is the ideal choice for any kind of travel around the city of London. The car itself gives off zero emissions, and therefore is exempt from the central London congestion charge. This kind of car also has designated car parking spots dotted around the whole city. It’s London’s way of giving a little back to people who are doing their part in helping to keep carbon emissions down.

Of course, it was also pointed out by many car hire experts that hiring an electric car in London can sometimes turn out to be a lot cheaper than hiring a fuel powered vehicle. First and foremost, the costs for running the car itself are significantly lower. These electric cars can simply be recharged from as little as 95p from a domestic power point. This will give it enough power to keep the car running all day long.

Not all is great about the Ev’ie, though. The little green machine has a range of only 75 miles and a top speed of 60 mph. Thus, it’s not perfect for long haul trips but great for city driving.
