Travelodge Hotels to Create Construction Jobs

Steven Powell

The well known hotel chain, Travelodge, has just announce its plans to build new hotels in a wide range of locations all across England. So this is good news for them, but what does it mean for the public? They will have more rooms to sleep in?

Actually this announcement has a very big impact on people all over the UK. That is because these new hotels are very likely to give a big boost to the construction industry, and thus, create more jobs.

This £60.7 project will entail construction work on ten hotels nationwide. Three of these buildings will be going up in London and two in Manchester. The other hotels will be located in Liverpool, Bristol, Camberley, Cannock and Andover. Thus, it is easy to see how these hotels will not only add to the Travelodge portfolio, but it will help the UK economy as well.

Travelodge plans to help create these new construction jobs in these locations while, in the long term, construction recruitment will also increase. The Travelodge managing director for development, Paul Harvey, remarked that the firm had continually persisted with construction work on new hotels in spite of difficult economic conditions and secured more hotels in 2009 that in any other year.

Some recent figures from Glenigan indicate that the volume of new construction jobs being undertaken in the hotel and leisure sector has finally stabilized over the past 12 months. This is good news since this is a number that has been declining for the previous two years.

Experts say that it’s always great when a big chain like Travelodge is able to, not only help out local communities, but itself as well. These new jobs will help keep the economy strong in those areas, but it will also help Travelodge continue to expand. It’s a win, win for everyone.
