Tulsa hire car stocks low, warns Dollar Thrifty

A major car hire firm in Tulsa has claimed that there are almost 13 per cent fewer hire cars available than there was one year ago. Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. claim that rental cars are in short supply and it is common for visitors to not be able to hire a car on arriving at the busy Tulsa International Airport during the week. The problem is affecting the whole country and not just Tulsa, as many airport officials say that there has been a huge rise in complaints about the lack of hire cars available.

Although car rental companies in general are withstanding the economic crisis that is gripping the world, many companies have depleted their resources as the amount of people travelling has continued to fall. This means that compared to last year, car rental companies have dramatically cut their fleets and some travellers are starting to notice.

The parent company of Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental is Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. They have reported that they used a total of 104,648 vehicles for the first six months of 2009, which shows a 12.9 per cent decrease when compared to the first six months of 2008.
