Car rental location Dublin Airport

Location information for Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is the main gateway to Ireland, handling around 19 million passengers annually. The modern, two-terminal airport receives numerous flights from the UK, and elsewhere in Europe, and it has transatlantic connections. Dublin is an easy 10km drive south of the airport.

Airport Facilities

There are two terminals, Terminal 1 and the newer Terminal 2, with the latter terminal handling the most flights. Passengers will find dozens of shops, eateries and bars, along with ATMs and currency exchange outlets. Other services include VIP rooms, wireless internet, and 24-hour short- and long-term parking.

Car Hire Dublin Airport

There is much to see around Dublin and many visitors choose to rent cars whilst here. The airport is served by several major companies, including Budget, Hertz, Murrays, National, Avis, Dan Dooley and Malones. For the best prices simply search for car hire in Dublin Airport above and book in advance. Then just pick up the keys to your vehicle from your supplier when you arrive.

Driving

Driving is on the left-hand side in Ireland. Ireland is best seen by car as it is uncongested, distances between main locations are short, and public transport doesn't make it to every region of Dublin's surroundings. The city itself is busy to drive around, but if you plan on seeing the coast or the Dublin Mountains, a car is a must.

Things To See and Do

Visitors typically check out the nearby coast, including the coastal towns of Howth and Bray. These towns, situated to the north and south respectively, are within 30 minutes' driving distance. The rolling Wicklow hills are also within easy reach and are punctuated by country houses and historic castles. If you have time, Waterford and Belfast are within two hours' drive from Dublin Airport.

Best Time To Visit

Dublin has a mild climate, much the same as Liverpool. The weather here is changeable and moist, so take a jacket with you while driving into the countryside which surrounds the city. Summer is naturally the best time for sun, with average temperatures of 15°C to 20°C. Spring and autumn can also be pleasant though winter is dreary. Avoid St Patricks' Day (17th March) if you don't like crowds.
