Transport

Paphos International Airport is 10kms southwest of the city and the main gateway to western Cyprus. The chief sights in the new town are accessible on foot. Apart from the A6 motorway to Limassol, roads are not busy. They are reasonably well maintained, but in the hills inland they tend to meander. Motorists will find driving around the area's picturesque landscapes a pleasure.

Akamas is an unspoilt headland and home to a loggerhead turtle sanctuary and Aphrodite's Baths.

Paphos is a holiday favourite with Britons. Temperatures that range between 15°C and 32°C ensure that people can visit at any time of the year. Those who do not enjoy crowds and really hot weather are better off visiting outside the peak June to August holiday season.
