What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

We have used 121 carhire

We have used 121 carhire for many cars over approx 15 years and the website is easy to use booking the car and for the type and price of cars. However trying to deal with your agents over the phone to change or cancel a booking is 'not' a pleasant experience. It was frustrating speaking with your unfriendly agents who did not try and find a workable solution for the changes we needed to make to our booking due to flight changes. It was easier to just cancel the booking with 121 car hire and book directly with the car company who were wonderful in assisting and making the booking. Your agents over the phone are very autocratic and direct ( borderline being rude ) 121 car hire would benefit in creating a more friendly and helpful service to clients when dealing with your agents over the phone.

Syros Island is part of the Cyclades Island group, located southeast of mainland Greece. The airport only has one scheduled flight to Athens, so visitors need to fly to the Greek capital before catching a connecting flight to Syros. The only airline operating in the airport is Olympic Air, with no current plans for any other airlines to start serving the facility.

Syros Airport facilities

Since Syros Airport is a small island airport, facilities are lacking in the terminal building. There is nothing in the way of refreshments or shops, but there is a cash machine. Car hire in Syros Airport is only available should you arrange it in advance through an off-site provider, who will deliver a vehicle to the airport for you.

Syros Airport excursions

Syros is less of tourist spot and more of an authentic Greek island. Ermoupolis, the capital of the island, has charming stone-cobbled streets and Miaouli Plaza, a nice places to hang out and soak up the authentic atmosphere. There are some pleasant beaches, such as Kini, which have more locals than tourists sunbathing on them and can be easily reached from the capital by car.

Best time to visit

The island is pleasant all year round although in the summer (May to September), it can get very hot. The spring (March to May) and the autumn (September to November) offer more moderate temperatures that rarely get cold. In the summer, there are more travel options available and visitors can island-hop if they wish.
